For the first time on our website ,the Team as decided to make an interview

of an european group who came last month in normandy for a set during « les terrasses du jeudi »

Grove is a german group who has accepted to answer us to our questions

How the organisation of the festival contact you ?

 

There is an exchange program running between Rouen and Hannover on many levels. For decades, already!

Me, for example, I was part of a pupil exchange back in 1990.

 

Last year, we had Magic Hawaii in Hannover, a Band from Rouen, performing on our Fährmannsfest in Hannover. Our singer was involved in some preparation for the event and somehow someone decided that in return we´ll visit Rouen as a Band and perform @ les terasses du jeudi

Actually others decided or thought we are worth traveling to Rouen to perform ;O)

Are you feeling good vibrations during your set in Rouen?

 

Yeah, it was amazing. We felt so honored to be there and didn´t know what the audience would be like, so we really enjoyed the crowd which was with us on a certain level we haven´t experienced, yet!

 

Majority of your text are in german ,do you think it's more difficult to introduce you in the european group who sing in english ?

 

That´s not the way we think about it. We have songs in german, in english and even parts in French, but the real speech is the music itself, the whole package. People, who attract to our music and want to understand the text will find a way to understand. We wouldn´t ever compare ourselves to bands like Tokio Hotel, but they have proved that e.g. french audience can be  attracted to music with german text. So,…..things will find their way if they are meant to, you know.

You covered a song of Rage Against the Machine ,are they the inspiration of the group ?

 

One of a lot, yes. Zack dela Rocha has a unique way to express things with his band, that piss him off a lot.

So, that might be one kind of inspiration because our songs also deal with things happening in the world pissing us off but at the same time it is this latent unconsciousnessto change things which bugs us.

Covering RATM is actually a lot of fun, because the songs have a great energy that instantly catches the audience and EVE just likes to let the animal out on these ones, you know ;O)

What is the future for Grove ?

 

Keep on rockin´. Doing what we do since we founded. Write songs, rehearsel, have gigs, record stuff, release a second album hopefully soon and hopefully extend tour durations.

We are no pros, meaning we can´t make a living on our music, so we all have to work and feed our families, but maybe one day we´ll attract someone in the right place at the right time. Who know´s?!?!

We just keep on doing what we love. That´s what we focus on.

Have you got something else to say?

 

French audience is awesome. We´ll hopefully be able to return one day and thanks to all guys who bought our CD.

People who consume music like it is usual for today may not spend a thought on what it means to independent musicians when they buy their CD, which is rare these days.

It´s the chance to  keep on doing what a musician loves………..making music.
